Choosing sports medicine and orthopedic surgery as his area of specialization was perhaps inevitable for Dr. Tauberg. He remembers his grandfather taking him to visit his colleague Charles “Chip” Burke, MD, who was the team physician for the Pittsburgh Penguins for many years. Dr. Burke gave young Brandon a private tour of the Penguins locker room – an experience Dr. Tauberg calls “unforgettable and motivating.” Brandon Tauberg also found inspiration in his parents, both of whom were health care professionals: his father is James Tauberg, DMD, and his mother, Cindy Tauberg, was a dental hygienist. “Both of my parents are caring people,” he says. “They will drop what they are doing to help someone. They’re fantastic people.”
